Planters Bank of Savannah records, 1816-1870 (bulk 1840-1859).

Notes, deeds, mortgages, stock certificates, a variety of legal papers, a small amount of correspondence, and a record book of notes redeemed, chiefly 1840s and 1850s, relating to loans, transactions with northern firms, and other financial dealings of Planters Bank. A few Civil War items relate to the seizure of alien property and purchase of government bonds. Also included is a muster roll, April 1861, for a detachment from the permanent party at Oglethorpe Barracks, Savannah, Ga., sent to headquarters of the 1st Georgia Infantry Regiment at Fort Pulaski, Ga.
